Cuddles ( Persian - female )

Sophie's Favourite treat: bread

A Funny Thing Happened on the way to My House ...

A nurse who worked with Paula had a boyfriend. The boyfriend was walking, or rather weaving, his was home one night after an evening at the pub. Somewhere along the route Cuddles followed started following him. Oddly enough, she also walks a bit strange – like she’s been on a horse all day. So they made a perfect pair? Not quite, the boyfriend gave Cuddles to the nurse. And, the nurse gave her to Paula for safe keeping until someone came to the surgery to report a lost Persian. Uh, Cat.

Well, four MONTHS later someone did come to report a missing cat. Paula said: “I’ve got her!!!”   In the ensuing conversation the owner said: he had several cats; Cuddles was always hiding from them; she hardly ever came out from hiding; he was amazed to learn the she was playing with Paula’s cats and DOGS; and finally: ‘I think she would be much happier with you!’.

So, Cuddles came to live with the vet. She’s 16 this year and doesn’t eat bread like Sophie. She prefers other cats’ food. Even if it’s exactly the same as hers, she prefers theirs. And, as much as she eats, she still only weighs in at around 2 kilos.

Unfortunately, Cuddles has to be watched closely when food is about – she would rather eat dog food than cat food. Which isn’t good. Cats can’t make certain amino acids needed for good health the way humans and other animals can. They rely on meat to provide these essential nutrients. If you feed a cat on dog food, or feed it a vegetarian diet, they tend to go blind and develop a lot of other health problems.
