ECG Monitor

Electro Cardiograms are used both for diagnosing heart problems, and for monitoring high risk patients during surgery. It has a built in respiration monitor that is useful as an aide for checking anaesthia levels.  However, at Hollyoak, we never use technology to replace a trained nurse when your pet is under anaesthesia

It's a valuable tool for checking patients with an electrolyte imbalance to ascertain whether heart damage has occurred.

Our ECG is specifically designed for animal use . This is important, since modified 'human' ECG's cannot handle the wide range of heart rates found in animals - for example a rabbit's normal heart rate is about 250 beats per minute!

It is what is known as a "6 lead" ECG which provides a more detailed look at heart activity than the ordinary "3 lead" variety and lets us pick up potential heart problems before they become life threatening.

This unit, like our other analysers, ties into our computer system allowing us to view and store complete exams, or portions of interest, as well as enabling us to email ECG traces to consulting specialists for further expert analysis.

It's portable, too! Enabling us to take it on emergency callouts.
